Abstract
Today, the formation of urban hangouts in Tabriz city has changed drastically compared to the past due to the influence of economic factors, changes in lifestyle and hybrid life, governance and power factors, etc., and they have become only transit spaces or resting places. Therefore, the aim of the research is to understand the process of formation of contemporary urban hangouts in Tabriz city. The research method is qualitative-quantitative. The method of collecting information was carried out in the form of library and field studies using questionnaires. The statistical population of the research consisted of 200 citizens of the Il-Goli sidewalk of Tabriz in the second district of this city, who were selected by random sampling. The analysis of the questionnaire data was carried out with confirmatory factor analysis, and considering the structural model that measures the relationship between latent variables and items and deals with the relationship between variables, type II factor analysis was used. The results showed that spatial practice, representation of space, and space of representation show that in contemporary Tabriz hangouts, the confrontation and interaction between tradition and modernity, individual freedom and social control, and intimacy and alienation are simultaneously present, which causes urban identity to be reproduced in the daily actions of citizens. Also, through ideological and cultural representations, Tabriz urban hangouts have become powerful and multi-layered arenas through the design of urban hangouts based on culture and appropriate to the context and context, as well as the combination of traditional and modern spaces,
